Unit 1:
Face:
Stamp:
Plan:
- Roll out a tube of clay (like a snake)
- Smush down the top to become like a stamp
- Carve a tree out from the top of the stamp
- Add fun details!

The stamp went well, however, it took me a few tries to get the stamp to look how I wanted it, and even now it doesn't feel or look quite how I want it too. I decided to do a tree because it was a play on my name and a lot of my friends call me it, so I am happy with that aspect at least. I did not like my face or stamp enough to glaze, so they will be staying as they are.
Plan:
- Roll a ball from my wedged clay
- Then, start to mold my facial shapes
- Certain features require slip and scoring
- Smooth the surface to the best of my ability

My face went pretty well for being one of my first ceramic experiences. I enjoyed making it quite a lot. The nose got smushed which makes it look a little funny. If I were to do it again, I would make sure it was as symmetrical as I could, and try to get some reference photos as well.
Painted:
Plan:
- Cut some clay from my wedged clay
- Roll into a ball
- Start to form a pinch pot
- Once the pinch pot is complete, push the edges with a tool to give a wave shape
- Carve lines out of the body
- After it has dried some more, paint the waves and lines with underglaze
- Lastly, fire and glaze blue

I was really happy with how my painted pinch pot turned out. One thing I would change is to clear the glaze where my underglaze is, as well as put more layers in certain spots because my pot was left with grainy, uneven spots that were annoying to feel.
